Patrick Mahomes and his dad had a sweet on-field moment after Chiefs won Super Bowl

We can’t know for sure, but it is possible Pat Mahomes Sr.’s mind on Sunday flashed back to his own playing days.

The elder Mahomes was a Major League Baseball pitcher who took his son to the ballpark, and photos show the younger Mahomes shagging flies with the Mets or wearing a Twins jersey while a toddler in dad’s arms.

Those memories may have flooded back to Mahomes’ father after watching his son, who is now 24, help the Chiefs beat the 49ers 31-20 in Super Bowl LIV.

After the game, Mahomes sought out his father on the field at Hard Rock Stadium and the two embraced in a sweet moment that was shared by NFL Films.

Dear old dad was in tears:
