For Pete's Sake

Chiefs’ Travis Kelce tastes sweet nectar of a beer he poured off the Lombardi Trophy

In a television interview following the Chiefs’ 31-20 win over the 49ers in Super Bowl LIV, tight end Travis Kelce put a spin on the Beastie Boys song he helped Kansas Citians rediscover.

“You’ve got to fight for your right to ... Lombardi!” Kelce said.

Chiefs fans loved Kelce’s impromptu reference to “(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (to Party!)“ after the AFC Championship Game, and well, Kelce seems to know how to party.

Even with the Lombardi Trophy.

Kelce shared an Instagram video that showed him pouring beer on the Lombardi Trophy and letting the beverage run down the base of trophy and into his mouth.

In the accompanying words with the video, Kelce wrote about how he had always dreamed of drinking from the Stanley Cup, which is given to the NHL champion.

Call this the NFL version of that:

Forget the sweet nectar of the end zone as Chiefs play-by-play announcer Mitch Holthus likes to say. This appeared to taste sweet to Kelce, and his teammates certainly approved.
