For Pete's Sake

Listen to Mitch Holthus’ call when the Chiefs won Super Bowl LIV

The Chiefs had one of the strangest final plays in Super Bowl history. But it accomplished what needed to be done.

With 5 seconds to play and the Chiefs leading the 49ers 31-20 on Sunday night in Super Bowl LIV, quarterback Patrick Mahomes wanted to run out the clock. So he took the snap and heaved the ball down the sideline in the general direction of Demarcus Robinson.

The pass fell incomplete, but more importantly, when the ball landed, the clock had expired. And with that, the Chiefs’ Super Bowl drought was officially over.

In the broadcast booth, Mitch Holthus shared the news on the Chiefs Radio Network:

“The game is over! And the Chiefs Kingdom has firmly planted its flag on top of football’s highest summit,” said Holthus, the voice of the Chiefs. “The Kan-sas City Chiefs are champions of Super Bowl LIV.”
