For Pete's Sake

Philadelphia Flyers mascot Gritty dressed as Chiefs’ Andy Reid at Saturday’s NHL game

Chiefs coach Andy Reid is beloved in Philadelphia. Well, at least by the Flyers’ mascot, Gritty.

During the Flyers’ game Saturday against Colorado, Gritty dressed in a Hawaiian shirt, glasses, fake mustache, a headset and a hat with a caricature of Reid. The mascot also carried “Andy’s Play Book.”

While interacting with fans, Gritty threw a red challenge flag, but it was with much more vigor than Reid.

Reid, whose first head coaching job in the NFL was with the Eagles (1999-2012), apparently has a look that fans in Philadelphia can instantly recognize, even on a mascot.

And it’s no coincidence Gritty pulled out the imitation on the eve of Super Bowl LIV, right?
