Twitter map shows who fans in each state are cheering for in Super Bowl LIV

There is no shortage of stories on the Internet that seek to explain or examine how politically divided the United States has become.

Football fans can’t seem to agree either when it comes to Super Bowl LIV on Sunday.

Since the end of championship games, the NFL specialists at the sports gambling site sportsbetting.ag analyzed more than 75,000 geotagged Twitter data from across the country and determined which team fans in each state are hoping will win.

They looked specifically at hashtags for each team, such as #ChiefsKingdom and #GoNiners and #BeLegendary).

Support for the Chiefs came mostly from the middle of the nation and they are favored in 27 states. For what it’s worth, the collective total in those states would be 302 Electoral College votes.

The site House Method surveyed fans in each state and found the gender breakdown for rooting interest. Men want the Chiefs to win in 36 states, 11 were for the 49ers and three were split 50-50.

Women were cheering more for the 49ers in 27 states, 19 were for the Chiefs and there were four ties.

However, House Method said the overall data, regardless of where people reside, shows support among women was 50.42% for the 49ers and 49.58% for the Chiefs. There is a stark difference among support among men. It was 62.01% for the Chiefs and 37.99% for the 49ers.

House Method said it interviewed 4,118 people earlier this month for the survey.
