Video shows Kareem Hunt tell police he’s sad not to play in Super Bowl with Chiefs
Former Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt appears to be aware of what might have been.
Hunt, who won a rushing title as a rookie with the Chiefs in 2017, was dismissed from the team in December 2018 after a video showed him kicking and shoving a woman in a Cleveland hotel.
Last February, Hunt signed with the Cleveland Browns and served an eight-game suspension leveled by the NFL. In eight games with the Browns this season, Hunt rushed for 179 yards and two touchdowns as a backup to Nick Chubb.
Cleveland finished 6-10 and missed the playoffs this season, while the Chiefs have advanced to the Super Bowl. Hunt expressed a sense of regret when he was pulled over for speeding on Jan. 21 in Rocky River, Ohio.
This is from CantonRep.com: “(Patrolman Mike) Asbury cited Hunt for driving 77 mph in a 60 mph zone westbound on Interstate 90 at the 163-mile marker but not for what a police report describes as ‘small amounts of marijuana’ the patrolman found inside a backpack on the back seat of the car Hunt had been operating.”
TMZ on Monday released the dashcam video of the interaction between Asbury and Hunt, who can be heard talking about not being on the Chiefs.
“You know what happened to me? I should be playing for a freakin’ Super Bowl,” Hunt says. “It hurts my soul like you wouldn’t understand. I’ve been fighting a lot of (stuff) lately. It still hurts me to this day. I love Cleveland, love the Browns, but you don’t understand. I’m just the worst person in the world.”
Here is an excerpt from the TMZ video (you can find the whole version here), and be aware that Hunt curses:
Hunt also told the officer he didn’t believe he would pass an NFL drug test.
