Twitter accounts for the Chiefs and 49ers were hacked on Monday

Super Bowl week got off to a less-than-stellar start for the Chiefs. At least from a social media standpoint.

Hackers took control of the Chiefs’ Twitter account on Monday, and tweeted a message:

Hi, we’re Back (OurMine).

We are here to Show people that everything is

hackable

to improve your accounts security

The tweet was quickly deleted by the Chiefs, only to return again. And the cycle played out for a while on Monday afternoon.

Later, the avatar on the Chiefs’ Twitter page disappeared, too.

The Chiefs weren’t alone in being hacked. The NFL, Packers and Bears also had their Twitter accounts tweet send the same messages:

The Twitter hijacking led to at least one Super Bowl LIV related joke.

That joke didn’t age well. Within an hour, the 49ers’ account was hacked along with many others.

Yeah, the 49ers were among them and their Twitter page looked like this:
