Put away those grills, Chiefs fans. Tailgating is not allowed at Super Bowl LIV.
NBC Sports broadcaster Al Michaels has said one reason he loves calling games at Arrowhead Stadium is the smell.
More precisely, the scent of the barbecue cooking in the parking lots.
Tailgating is a tradition in Kansas City, but it won’t be allowed at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami ahead of Super Bowl LIV.
“This is not anything new and has been the same for previous Super Bowls, including those in Miami,” NFL Vice President of Communications Brian McCarthy told CBS4 News in Miami.
Fans can bring food and drinks, but they won’t be allowed to set up grills, games or tents.
CBS4 said only fans with tickets to Super Bowl LIV will be allowed in the parking lots, and a ticket to the game doesn’t include parking.
Parking passes can be purchased here for $120. Three of the four lots are already sold out.
“There is also free entertainment in the Gameday Fan Plaza and also inside the stadium with entertainment and programming on the field and on the videoboards,” McCarthy told CBS4.
But there won’t be any burnt ends or ribs cooking before the game.
