For Pete's Sake

Former NFL coach says Chiefs must reduce mental mistakes in Super Bowl LIV

Although the Chiefs won both of their playoff games by comfortable margins, there were some nervous moments for fans.

In wins over the Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans, the Chiefs had dropped passes, ill-timed offsides penalties, a muffed punt return, a penalty on a third-and-22 play and a blocked punt.

The Chiefs were able to overcome the mental mistakes, of course. But former Jets and Browns coach Eric Mangini said on Fox Sports’ “First Things First” he hopes the Chiefs can clean up those miscues for Super Bowl LIV.

“The starting point for Kansas City still has to be not beating themselves,” Mangini said. “We have not seen that aspect of it in two games and that’s my biggest concern.”

Mangini added: “Hopefully we won’t be looking as the game as the one Kansas City threw away.”
