Nashville airport CEO trash talks KCI about weather closure ahead of Chiefs game

The snow never really arrived Friday in Kansas City, but there was plenty of ice.

And a little ice is too much, especially at an airport. On Friday morning, a Delta plane slid off a taxiway at Kansas City International airport. Fortunately there apparently were no injuries.

As freezing rain and sleet continued falling, the airport closed intermittently to clear the runways and 90 flights were canceled. KCI’s flight tracker showed all four flights* from Nashville were among those scrubbed, which meant a headache for Titans fans traveling to see their team play the Chiefs in Sunday’s AFC Championship Game.

*Southwest Airlines’ website does show one flight from Nashville, through Houston, still set to arrive Friday

After KCI announced it was closing to clear the ice, the CEO of the Nashville airport took to Twitter to troll KCI.

The good news is the flights from Nashville are on as scheduled for Saturday.
