Pope Francis given an autographed jersey of Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes
At this point in the NFL season, the Chiefs will take any edge they can get, right?
Perhaps even a bit of divine intervention.
That’s worth noting, because Bishop James Johnston of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph brought an autographed Patrick Mahomes jersey with him for a meeting with Pope Francis on Thursday in Vatican City.
The Catholic News Service shared this photo:
Bishops from Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa visited with the Pope to give reports about their dioceses, the Archdiocese of St. Louis reported.
Last month, Pope Francis received a Lamar Jackson jersey from the Archdiocese of Baltimore. The Sun said the jersey was Jackson’s No. 8 but had “Francis” on the back. It was signed by Jackson and coach John Harbaugh.
The Ravens were eliminated from the playoffs on Saturday, a fact that was brought up on Twitter after Pope Francis received the Mahomes jersey just days ahead of the AFC Championship Game.
Pope Francis is building a nice jersey collection. He has received a Las Vegas Golden Knights hockey jersey, a Argentinian soccer jersey and a personalized Cubs jersey.
