Resale market figures show Titans fans could have good showing at AFC title game
Will a sea of red at Sunday’s AFC Championship Game include a tinge of blue?
According to two online ticket brokers, Titans fans are expected to have a strong presence at Arrowhead Stadium for the game against the Chiefs.
Vivid Seats’ “Fan Forecast” currently is estimating 27% of the fans at Arrowhead Stadium will be cheering for the Titans. Vivid Seats says it arrived at that number by using sales data to attribute fandom to every purchase. That doesn’t mean 27% of the fans will be from Tennessee, but that percentage will be cheering for the Titans, it says.
However, StubHub’s research shows 11% of its sales are from people in Tennessee. It has sold tickets to the game to fans from 47 states and five countries. That includes 22% of its sales to fans in Missouri and 22% in Kansas.
As for the cost, StubHub is showing an average ticket price of $467, which it says is 6% higher than last year’s AFC Championship Game, which also was at Arrowhead Stadium. The lowest-priced ticket available as of Thursday morning: $213.90 for one seat. The cheapest price for two or more tickets is $246.45 per seat.
“Right now, the AFC Championship is the more affordable game this weekend,” Akshay Khanna, general manager of sports at StubHub, said in a statement. “However, we are already seeing higher average ticket prices in both games this weekend thanks to the exciting matchups.”
TickPick said Thursday morning the average purchase price for the AFC title game had a slight increase overnight to $423.71. The get-in price, however, decreased to $267 (which is below face value).
TicketIQ said the average price was $408, an increase of 17% from the last year’s AFC Championship Game. Its least-expensive ticket is $261 and the most expensive ticket is $5,494.
