The early forecast for Sunday’s AFC Championship Game looks pretty good
A year ago, the early forecast for the AFC Championship Game at Arrowhead Stadium called for temperatures in the single digits thanks to an Arctic blast.
It ended up being warmer than that (temperatures reached the 20s), but it was still a cold game.
So the good news is this year’s AFC Championship Game, between the Chiefs and Titans, should be a bit warmer. For starters the game will be during the day (2:05 p.m. kickoff), which should help keep it warmer, and the forecast looks free of precipitation.
Here are six forecasts for Sunday’s game, and all of them look pretty good:
Erin Little of KCTV-TV (Ch. 5) said on Tuesday’s broadcast: “It’s going to be cold for Chiefs Kingdom in the morning for tailgating but looking good (at) 32 degrees by the afternoon.”
Jeff Penner of KSHB-TV (Ch. 41) wrote this about Sunday on the station’s weather blog: “Right now it looks dry and cold with lows around 10 and highs around 20.”
The National Weather Service is showing temperatures will start in the teens and rise to 32 degrees on Sunday with partly sunny skies.
KMBC-TV (Ch. 9) has this forecast: “Considerable clouds early. Some decrease in clouds later in the day. High 23F. Winds NNW at 10 to 15 mph.” Meteorologist Nick Bender said on Tuesday’s broadcast: “We look for similar conditions to what we had last Sunday, minus the snow on the ground. It’s going to be cold this Sunday at Arrowhead, but we’re not going to have the snow heading into it.”
Joe Lauria wrote this on the Fox 4 weather blog: “It will be colder over the weekend…nothing crazy but 30-35° are likely for the game on Sunday it appears with quite a bit of clouds around.”
Weather.com shows a high of 24 degrees on Sunday with partly cloudy skies.
