NFL Network host explains why ‘Chiefs offense could put up huge numbers this weekend’

Four of the NFL’s top 13 offenses will be taking the field for the AFC playoffs this weekend.

The Ravens are second in total offense, followed by the Chiefs (sixth), Titans (12th) and Texans (13th). Two of the NFC’s divisional playoff teams rank below those four, so that sparked a debate on “Good Morning Football” on the NFL Network.

Which AFC quarterback leads the best offense in the playoff field?

Two picked the Chiefs: Peter Schrager and Kyle Brandt. In fact, Schrager called the Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs a sleeping giant.

“Mahomes looks right, the offensive line looks right, and between Tyreek (Hill) and Mecole (Hardman) and then you have Travis Kelce, that passing game is electric,” said Schrager, who also works for Fox Sports.

“The Chiefs offense could put up huge numbers this weekend and we’d all be like, wait a second, what? ... Watch out for the Chiefs in January, guys.”

Brandt talked about how running backs step up in the playoffs and mentioned Damien Williams’ 124 yards against the Chargers in the regular-season finale.

“What Damien Williams did two weeks ago is scary, because I think Mahomes sitting back there and playing pop-a-shot can be beaten,” Brandt said. “I really do. The fact that they can get in a running game. ... That’s Andy Reid’s secret weapon at the perfect time.”
