The early forecast for Chiefs’ playoff game against Houston looks good

A lot can change in six days, particularly when talking about the weather.

However, most forecasts project the weather for seven days or longer, so Chiefs fans may have an idea of what to expect for Sunday’s AFC Divisional playoff game against the Houston Texans. Kickoff at Arrowhead Stadium is at 2:05 p.m. on Sunday, which is six days from now.

Here is what forecasters are saying about the weather for game day. Keep in mind the average temperature for January in Kansas City is 38 degrees.

The National Weather Service is predicting a high of 46 degrees on Sunday under mostly sunny skies.

Channel 5 meteorologist Erin Little said on Monday’s broadcast: “Right now ... we are looking A-OK for our Chiefs Sunday out at Arrowhead.” KCTV’s website shows a high of 43 degrees on Sunday with partly cloudy skies.

Fox 4 shows a temperature of 21 degrees on Sunday morning but it will warm to 43 degrees with partly cloudy skies by the afternoon.

Channel 41 meteorologist Lindsey Anderson said on Monday’s morning broadcast: “Temperatures for the first home playoff game on Sunday looking pretty good in the low 40s.” KSHB’s website shows a forecast high of 44 degrees on Sunday with partly cloudy skies.

Channel 9 meteorologist Nick Bender noted on Monday’s broadcast that the chance of rain and snow on Friday “clears out in time for the Chiefs game on Sunday and we try to get those numbers up a bit: 44 degrees for a high Sunday with scattered clouds.” KMBC’s website has this outlook for Sunday: “Sunshine and clouds mixed. High 43F. Winds SSE at 10 to 20 mph.”

The Weather Channel’s forecast shows a high of 44 degrees with a 10 percent chance of precipitation.
