Kevin Harlan did play-by-play of Dolphins-Patriots ... while calling Chiefs game

Kevin Harlan won’t get any additional pay for his work Sunday, but at one point he was calling two games at once.

Harlan and former Kansas City quarterback Rich Gannon called Sunday’s Chiefs-Chargers game from Arrowhead Stadium for CBS, and the duo knew the playoff implications in the AFC.

A Chiefs win and a Patriots loss to Miami would elevate Kansas City over New England into the No. 2 seed in the AFC postseason field.

So when the Chiefs had a 10-point late in the fourth quarter after a Damien Williams touchdown run, Harlan was keeping a close eye on the action in Foxborough, Massachusetts. The Dolphins rallied late in the game and beat the Patriots 27-24, and Harlan provided a bit of play by play.

“I’m getting confused,” Gannon asked, “what came are you calling?”

“I’m calling both games!,” Harlan thundered.

Later Harlan, who has a home in Mission Hills and attended the University of Kansas, said: “I think I’m breaking every FCC rule in the book.”

Not that Chiefs fans cared.
