Raiders’ final game in Oakland ends with boos and fans tossing garbage on the field
A week before Thanksgiving, Raiders fans had dreams of their team making the playoffs in the final season in Oakland.
Heck, some thought the Raiders might catch the Chiefs and win the AFC West, thus ensuring at least one playoff game at the Coliseum before the team begins play next season in Las Vegas.
But the wheels fell off in a hurry as the Raiders have lost four straight games, culminating with Sunday’s 20-16 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars at the Coliseum.
Oakland led 16-3 at halftime, but the Jaguars stormed back and scored a touchdown in the final minute to win the game.
The Raiders had a chance to go out with a bang, but their Hail Mary attempt ended, well, poorly. The final play in Coliseum history was a pass hitting off the helmet of a player who was blocking out a teammate who had a chance to make the catch:
After the game, Raiders players greeted fans who in turn booed quarterback Derek Carr.
“Oh gosh, what’s new with our crowd,” Carr told the East Bay Times. “Trust me, it’s not under my skin. It’s nothing new.”
Fans also threw trash on the field:
