Seven stats you may have missed from Chiefs’ 23-3 win over Broncos

Despite playing in a snowstorm, the Chiefs continued their dominance of the Denver Broncos.

The Chiefs thumped Denver 23-3 on Sunday afternoon at Arrowhead Stadium and won their ninth straight game against the Broncos. Denver’s last win came before the Royals won the World Series in 2015.

1. Tyreek Hill ties Jerry Rice

Wide receiver Tyreek Hill hauled in a 41-yard touchdown pass on the Chiefs’ first possession, and tied former 49ers star Jerry Rice in long-distance scores:

2. Butker’s record

Kicker Harrison Butker made three field goals Sunday and has 411 career points in his first three NFL seasons, the most by any player in their first three seasons. This is the list:

3. Single-digit defense

Sunday’s game was the fourth straight in which the Chiefs held an opponent to 17 points or fewer. Starting with the win over the Chargers in Mexico City, the defense has allowed an average of 9.3 points per game.

4. Second-quarter success

The Chiefs have scored 160 points in the second quarter this season, their most in the second quarter in any season.

5. The first two-pointer

The Chiefs’ two-point conversion pass from Patrick Mahomes to Sammy Watkins in the third quarter was their first of the year. The last two-point play came in Week 16 a year ago in a 38-31 loss at Seattle.

6. Snow problem

Despite the snow, quarterback Patrick Mahomes completed 27 of 34 passes for 340 yards and a pair of touchdowns. It was Mahomes’ 17th 300-yard passing game, the second-most in Chiefs history.
