For Pete's Sake

Chiefs’ Tyrann Mathieu shut himself in a freezer to raise awareness of neglected dogs

With his body shivering, Chiefs defensive back Tyrann Mathieu just wanted to get out of the freezer.

This wasn’t some prank done by his Chiefs teammates. Mathieu willingly shut himself in a freezer to raise awareness for the plight of dogs who are left outside in the cold during the winter months.

After about 20 minutes in the bitterly cold temperature, Mathieu had enough so he got out of the freezer. And, as Mathieu noted, at least he had that option.

“All my body want to do is huddle right now,” he said in the video. “I can get out of this freezer. Most dogs are chained up outside and they are not not able to get warm.”

You can see that in the video above.

“Imagine being forced to live outside, chained or caged, 24-7,” Mathieu says in the video. “That is no life for a dog. It’s a life sentence. Bring your dogs inside, treat them like members of your family and report neglect to your authorities immediately.”

This is the second video Mathieu has made with PETA. He previously locked himself in a car with the windows rolled up on a sunny, 90-degree day.

You can watch that video here.
