‘Cry me a river.’ Rex Ryan doesn’t care about Patriots fans’ complaints about refs

Patriots fans were not happy about officiating mistakes that went against New England during the Chiefs’ 23-16 win on Sunday.

The first instance came in the second half when the officials ruled tight end Travis Kelce down. The Patriots challenged, and officials said Kelce fumbled and New England recovered. Indeed, Stephon Gilmore had the ball and CBS announcer Tony Romo said Gilmore may have been able to return it for a touchdown. Instead, the play had been ruled dead.

New England then drove deep into Chiefs territory and receiver N’Keal Harry was ruled to have stepped out of bounds before scoring a touchdown. The Patriots were out of challenges, so although replay showed Harry stayed in bounds, New England was denied the touchdown.

It was all too much for some Patriots fans, who unloaded on the officials on Twitter.

But former Jets and Bills coach Rex Ryan was having none of it.

“I’m sorry, but give me a break. Cry me a river,” Ryan said Monday on ESPN’s “Get Up.” “New England has never had a break? Oh, please. Give me a break. ... Yeah, were there some mistakes? Absolutely, and I loved it for one.”

Here is a sample of what Patriots fans were saying on Twitter:
