This is who national experts are saying will win the Chiefs’ game against Browns
A week ago, the Chiefs were favored to beat the Broncos by all but one of the 47 national NFL observers who made straight-up picks for the game.
Heading into Sunday’s Chiefs-Browns game at FirstEnergy Stadium, Kansas City again is picked to win by 46 of those 47 experts.
This time, it’s a different pundit who believes the Chiefs will lose in Sunday’s game, which kicks off at noon. It will be broadcast on CBS (Ch. 5).
Here is the breakdown and what people are saying about the game:
Elliot Harrison of NFL.com predicted a 30-24 Chiefs win. He wrote in part: “Already heard those folks who think this is where the Chiefs fall ... the ultimate trap game. Or, as alternate theorems go, maybe the uber-aggressive Browns defense swamps Kansas City’s multiple offense, which is equal parts complex and high school, with plays that typically work to near-perfection. Sounds great. I am still taking Kansas City. While not afraid to predict upsets ... I don’t see how Cleveland will score enough points with a new OC and rookie QB, especially if this matchup evolves (devolves) into a track meet.”
All but one of the eight CBS Sports writers picked the Chiefs: Pete Prisco, Jared Dubin, John Breech, Dave Richard, Will Brinson, Ryan Wilson and Jamey Eisenberg. However, Jason La Canfora went with the Browns. Pete Prisco’s prediction: a 32-20 Chiefs win. He wrote: “The Browns made a coaching change, firing Hugh Jackson and making Gregg Williams the interim coach. That could help give the Browns some life, but this is a brutal way for Williams to get his Browns coaching career going. Patrick Mahomes can light it up. Look for Williams to blitz him a bunch, but Mahomes will get this best of this game.
David Steele of the Sporting News believes the Chiefs will roll to a 42-17 victory. He wrote in part: “The Chiefs have given it away slightly more often in their last four games than in their first four, but not to any real detriment. As long as the Chiefs don’t look past this game, it should not be close.”
All of ESPN’s 10 experts forecast a Chiefs victory: Mike Golic, Trey Wingo, Molly Qerim, Louis Riddick, Kevin Seifert, Matt Bowen, Mike Clay, Mina Kimes, Dan Graziano and Seth Wickersham.
The seven Sports Illustrated Monday Morning Quarterback writers all picked the Chiefs: Albert Breer, Andrew Brandt, Mitch Goldich, Jonathan Jones, Bette Marston, Mark Mravic and Jenny Vrentas.
Each of USA Today’s five experts picked the Chiefs: Nate Davis, Lorenzo Reyes, Mike Jones, Mike Middlehurst-Schwartz and Jarrett Bell.
All eight Pro Focus Football writers believe the Chiefs will win:
The seven SB Nation writers picked a Chiefs victory. Adam Stites, Ryan Van Bibber, Charles McDonald, David Fucillo, Geoff Schwartz, Stephen White and Christian D’Andrea predicted a Chiefs victory.
