Here’s how to get your free Taco Bell taco today, thanks to Boston’s Mookie Betts
Boston outfielder Mookie Betts is likely to win the American League MVP award and he’ll join an elite group of players who’ve been called the best in their league.
Betts joined an even more select group when he stole second base in the first inning of Game 1 of the World Series. That theft triggered Taco Bell’s “Steal A Base, Steal A Taco” promotion. On Thursday, the fast-food chain will be giving away free tacos.
Other players to have won the country free tacos: Royals’ Lorenzo Cain (2015), Astros’ Cameron Maybin (2017), Indians’ Francisco Lindor (2016), Giants’ Angel Pagan (2012), Rays’ Jason Bartlett (2008) and Boston’s Jacoby Ellsbury (2007).
OK, the history lesson is over. Here is what you need to know about getting a free taco (based on the official terms and conditions that Taco Bell has on its website):
- Visit a Taco Bell in the United States between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. (local time) on Thursday
- Request a free Doritos Locos Taco (that’s the only one being given away)
- If you are in line at Taco Bell before 6 p.m., you will receive the taco. Naturally, that is while supplies last. Taco Bell also reserves the right to substitute an item of equal or greater value due to a lack of the Doritos Locos Tacos
- Taco Bell managers can deny a taco to anyone he or she “reasonably believes” has gotten a free taco already or has “engaged in any other fraudulent activity”
