Patrick Mahomes’ Chiefs jerseys are a hot seller across the United States

It’s no surprise that Patrick Mahomes is a big deal in Kansas City, but he’s also become something of a national sensation.

That can been seen in the jump in sales of his jersey.

Forbes reported that Mahomes merchandise was the top seller in the NFL in the month of October. That’s according to Fanatics, which operates NFLShop.com and the Chiefs’ official online store. For the season, Mahomes gear is No. 2 behind Bears defensive lineman Khalil Mack.

It’s not just the NFL Shop that is seeing a Mahomes bump.

Dick’s Sporting Goods, which sells NFL jerseys, shows Mahomes’ No. 15 was the second-most purchased item over the past week behind Mack. Over last 30 days, the Mahomes jersey has jumped 19 spots to fifth on Dick’s list, trailing only Mack, Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and Giants running back Saquon Barkley.

Mahomes, who has helped the Chiefs to a 7-1 record this season, has an NFL-leading 2,526 yards passing and 26 touchdowns. The boost in sales of his merchandise has coincided with his play.

Three Chiefs made the NFL Players’ Association’s Top 50 player sales list from March 1 to Aug. 31: tight end Travis Kelce at No. 38, Mahomes at No. 42 and running back Kareem Hunt at No. 45.

But now, Forbes reported that Mahomes jerseys “are on pace to shatter” the numbers of last year’s top seller for the Chiefs: Kelce.

“We see spikes in player merchandise all the time, but what’s interesting to me about the numbers behind Patrick Mahomes is how quickly he jumped to No. 1 and how long he’s been able to stay there,” Jack Boyle, the co-president of Fanatics’ direct-to-consumer business, told Forbes.

“Most players who remain a hot seller for weeks had gradual climbs to the top. The force at which fans have purchased Mahomes’ gear equals how quickly he exploded onto the scene with record-breaking performances this season. I don’t see this demand slowing down if he keeps playing this well.”

The Forbes story notes that Kansas City was the top market for Mahomes merchandise, as you would expect, but Dallas and Chicago were other top markets.
