A weird week in Wrigley Field bleachers: Cubs fans fight and a rat hears cheers

There have been some strange goings on this week in the bleachers at Wrigley Field in Chicago, and it’s only Wednesday.

After the Pirates beat the Cubs 5-1 on Monday, a brawl broke out in the stands that featured racist taunts and a guy helpfully saying, “there’s no fighting in the bleachers.” All the while, you can hear organ music in the background.

You can see that surreal scene in the video above. And if you want to see Part II of that fight, which includes more racist comments from a guy who realizes he’s being recorded and says, “If my unit sees that, I’m dead,” click here.

There were no punches thrown on Tuesday night. However, while the Cubs were losing 6-0 to Pittsburgh, a rat somehow got into a basket on the outfield wall and was trying to jump to freedom.

Cubs fans in the bleachers were rooting hard for the rodent:

It’s been a rough week for the Cubs on the field, too. Their lead in the National League Central is down to half-game over the Brewers with five games to play.
