Iowa State deletes tweet throwing shade at Texas Tech after beating Red Raiders

Iowa State’s illustrious football history includes three bowl victories, and one winning season since 2006.

Who can forget that thrilling 14-13 win over Minnesota in the 2009 Insight Bowl that gave the Cyclones a 7-6 record?

Perhaps this lack of football success would explain why the Cyclones need a refresher course on being a gracious winner.

After Iowa State beat Texas Tech 31-13 in Lubbock on Saturday and improved to 5-2, the Cyclones official athletic department Twitter account tweeted a photo with the score and this message: “FINAL. Thanks for the homecoming invite, Texas Tech.”

The irony, of course, is that for decades Iowa State has been a safe bet to have as the homecoming opponent. Perhaps the Cyclones were excited to finally have some success and tweeted that.

Someone wised up for Iowa State and realized the tweet was in poor taste. However, this is 2017, so someone naturally got a screenshot of the tweet:
