Tigers had funny Twitter reaction to Alex Gordon’s home-run saving catch
The play-by-play description of one particularly moment from Monday’s Royals game certainly didn’t tell the whole story.
“Mikie Mahtook flies out to left fielder Alex Gordon.”
In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Royals had a 5-0 lead when Detroit got two runners on with two outs. The Tigers’ Mahtook launched a Jakob Junis pitch to deep left field. It seemed destined to clear the fence, but Gordon intervened.
He made a leaping grab and saved three runs by taking away the home run.
As Royals fans on Twitter gushed about Gordon’s catch, the Tigers naturally had a different reaction.

My favorite part of the Gordon catch is the Tiger fan's expectation of the homerun... pic.twitter.com/5ivCmYwaNx

That catch in LF by Gordon is why he's still valuable. Gotta hope the bat comes back around next year. #Royals
