The reaction was immediate. Royals catcher Salvador Perez was hit by a pitch from Tampa Bay’s Chris Archer in the seventh inning of the Rays’ 12-1 win on Wednesday night and Perez was not happy.
Perez talked with The Star’s Rustin Dodd after the game about the play. That story also had background on what may have led to the beaning.
Royals pitcher Danny Duffy seemed to address the play after the game when he tweeted: “There was without question intent there, btw. If youre gonna dot somebody up, own it.”
