Kansas’ conference streak is more impressive than Kentucky’s unbeaten record, says writer
About two hours after his story posted, USA Today’s Chris Chase tweeted to Kentucky fans on Tuesday.
Dear Kentucky fans. 1) I didn't say Kansas is better than Kentucky. 2) Ask Robert Morris how regular season results equate to the postseason
— Chris Chase (@chaztopher) March 4, 2015Chase’s tweet was in reference to his story about Kansas’ 11 straight Big 12 conference titles being bigger than Kentucky’s perfect record.
“How could Kansas’ regular season possibly be more impressive than Kentucky’s?” Chase wrote. “You’re not thinking big picture.”
He went on to explain his point in three parts.
Chase also added this: “However: If, in 33 days, Kentucky has finished its season with a national championship and 40-0 record, then we have a different story on our hands. But for now: KU > UK.”
Needless to say, this didn’t go over well with Kentucky fans, leading to Chase’s tweet.
Is Kansas better than Kentucky? Numbers don't lie, check the scoreboard pic.twitter.com/W60t5OjdhB
— Ashley Scoby (@AshleyScoby) March 4, 2015@chaztopher 1. You kinda did "KU > UK" 2. The Robert Morris game was in the NIT. Hardly what UK fans consider a successful regular season.
— Tim L. Wood (@tlwood43) March 4, 2015.@chaztopher I like how your reason on why KU has had a better yr than UK included yrs OTHER than the one we're currently playing. #moron
— foster collis (@FosterCollis) March 4, 2015If your 1st reason why KU has been more impressive than UK, THIS YEAR is because of 11 straight Big 12 titles, I'm not taking you seriously.
— Richard (@DLAGPrez) March 4, 2015 @chaztopher C'mon, really? What has the rest of the Big12 done in 10 years? UK has owned KU during the Cal Era. KU should win 11 in a row.
— Bart Chinn (@bartchinn) March 4, 2015Seriously @chaztopher - "But for now: KU > UK." Historically: More titles. More wins. Currently: More NBA drafts. Traditional and relevancy.
— WildBlue (@Wildblue9698) March 4, 2015"KU is better because they had players going 1-3 in last year's draft." 1. How many did UK have in the first round last 4 years?
