Brent Musburger criticized for his two statements about Oklahoma’s Joe Mixon
Brent Musburger heard the complaints and he wasn’t happy.
During Monday night’s Sugar Bowl, Musburger noted that Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon had been suspended for the entire 2014 season for punching a female student in the face.
When he returned, Mixon rushed for 753 yards in 2015 and 1,183 yards this past season.
Last month, Mixon apologized for the incident, which NFL.com said involved Ameila Molitor, who had surgery for four facial bone fractures.
During the Sugar Bowl, Musburger said he hopes Mixon can make it to the NFL.
“He’s just one of the best, and let’s hope, given a second chance by Bob Stoops and Oklahoma, let’s hope that this young man makes the most of his chance and goes on to have a career in the National Football League,” Musburger said.
Here is the exactly what Musburger said:
I rewound this to make sure I wasn't being too tough on Brent. Nope. It's even worse the second time. This is embarrassing. pic.twitter.com/QAoikxck9G

That set off quite a few people on social media, which apparently got back to Musburger. He seemed upset as he tried to clarify what he had said about Mixon.

Both statements failed to placate fans, and some took a shot at Musburger.
Gotta wonder if Musburger realizes the irony of stanning for "second chances" while simultaneously blowing his

I think a lot of us are just tired of seeing assault crafted into a storyline of how an athlete overcomes the adversity of abusing someone.

Brent Musburger should have avoided talking about the Joe Mixon incident and just stuck with objectifying women.

Just a thought...How torn would Brent Musberger be if Joe Mixon punched Katherine Webb-McCarron?

Well I'm glad Joe Mixon is doing good, Musburger. After seeing him punch that girl in the face, I was wondering how he was doing. #SugarBowl

Plenty of empathy for Joe Mixon by Musburger & Palmer. Not a word about the woman Mixon slugged. Embarrassing, but not surprising.

Brent Musburger: “Bob Stoops tells me those 9/11 terrorists deserve a second chance in the NFL and I agree with him!”

ESPN could have used the Joe Mixon story to address a huge problem in sports. Instead Brent Musburger wished him a lengthy NFL career. Yeesh

If there were no video of Musburger's comments nobody would even care about it

Well...it just wouldn't be the true bowl season without an uncomfortable Brent Musberger comment. #SugarBowl
