Billy Butler beat a Yankees teammate in a footrace, and here’s the proof
It’s been a tough year for former Royals designated hitter Billy Butler.
After posting poor numbers in Oakland since the start of 2015 and seeing his playing time diminish this year, Butler suffered concussionlike symptoms after an altercation with an A’s teammate. Just weeks later, Butler was released by the A’s.
That’s when things turned for Butler. He signed with the Yankees, and he’s hit .357/.387/.536 in 31 plate appearances for New York. And while the Yankees won’t be in the playoffs, Butler is going out a winner.
Before Sunday’s game against the Orioles, Butler and teammate Brian McCann had a footrace in the outfield, and wouldn’t you know it? Butler won. A.J. Herrmann of the Yes Network had video of the race, and it seems like the entire Yankees team watched:
