Sporting Kansas City’s Benny Feilhaber, Saad Abdul-Salaam named to MLS team of the week
Sporting Kansas City opened the second half of its summer schedule with a pair of victories last week, the second of which landed two players Major League Soccer team of the week honors.
After a 2-0 win against visiting FC Dallas on Sunday, midfielder Benny Feilhaber and defender Saad Abdul-Salaam were named to the MLS team of the week Monday.
Feilhaber assisted on the club’s first goal Sunday and then scored from the penalty dot to push the margin to 2-0 before halftime. Feilhaber drew the preceding penalty kick call.
Abdul-Salaam was credited with six tackles, seven interceptions and two chances created during the victory Sunday.
Sporting KC also defeated Minnesota United FC in the U.S. Open Cup fourth round on Wednesday.
The club returns to action Saturday with a trip to face the Montreal Impact at 6:30 p.m.
