Brianna and Jillian Lancaster stood near the center of the Children's Mercy Park field Sunday, a day after they attended their father's funeral on the same grounds. They wore Sporting Kansas City jerseys in support of the club, with their names scripted across the back.

The players returned the gesture. A patch was stitched across the chest of the team's jerseys Sunday, honoring Kansas City, Kan., Detective Brad Lancaster, who was shot and killed Monday near the club's home stadium.

Brianna and Jillian delivered the game ball to the referees moments before the afternoon game against Orlando City SC — to applause from a sellout crowd. They posed for a photo with Sporting KC captain Matt Besler and Orlando City SC captain Kaka.

Lancaster's wife, Jamie, also attended the match Sunday, which opened with a moment of silence for Lancaster, whose funeral was held Saturday at Children's Mercy Park. Lancaster was remembered as a loving father and husband.

Lancaster, 39, was shot multiple times in the line of duty after responding to a radio call for assistance shortly after noon Monday near Hollywood Casino.

Sporting KC will donate 40 percent of the proceeds from its 4-3-3 gameday raffle to the Brad Lancaster Memorial Fund.
