Three-minute preview: Sporting Kansas City at San Jose Earthquakes
WHEN/WHERE: 2:30 p.m. today at Avaya Stadium, San Jose, Calif.
TV/RADIO: ESPN; KDTD (1340 AM)
ABOUT SPORTING KANSAS CITY (4-3-0, 12 points): After playing for the top spot in the Western Conference last week, Sporting KC sits in fourth place heading into the weekend. It has lost back-to-back matches, the result of some careless mistakes leading to goals. The club will conclude a three-game road swing Wednesday in Vancouver.
ABOUT SAN JOSE (3-2-2, 11 points): The Earthquakes are unbeaten in four home matches this season, allowing just two goals inside Avaya Stadium. Forward Chris Wondolowski, a pest against Sporting KC over his career, has six goals, tied for the MLS lead.
BOTTOM LINE: Sporting KC doesn't have history on its side this weekend. It has not won in San Jose since 2000, a stretch that includes a combined 17 regular season and postseason matches.
