Sporting KC promotes chief revenue officer Jake Reid to team president
Sporting Kansas City promoted Jake Reid to team president on Monday, filling a newly created position within the club.
Reid, 33, will be the youngest team president in Major League Soccer. He has served as the chief revenue officer for Sporting KC since 2012, and he’s worked with the team since 2010. As club president, he will oversee all business operations, most of which previously fell to Sporting Club CEO Robb Heineman.
“I’m pumped. It’s a dream come true,” Reid said. “Having been here for five and a half years, I think the beauty of the move is I’m familiar with the organization and ownership, so philosophically, nothing changes.”
During Reid’s tenure as CRO, Sporting KC extended its sellout streak to 70 consecutive MLS matches, and for the past three seasons, the club sold all of its allotted season tickets. Reid was chosen MLS ticketing executive of the year in 2013.
In November, he secured a 10-year stadium sponsorship with Children’s Mercy, and he helped the club land its first jersey sponsorship in January 2013 with Ivy Funds.
As part of his new role, Reid will oversee the development of the National Training Center and No Other Pub, a planned entertainment venue for the Power & Light District.
“The fan experience is still what we will base everything off of,” Reid said. “We’’ll always continue to think big-picture on new ideas, whether in-stadium (ideas) or things like No Other Pub, to enhance the fan experience.”
