MLS fines Sporting KC’s Juliao, two others
Sporting Kansas City defender Igor Juliao was fined an undisclosed amount Thursday for placing his “hands to the face/head” of D.C. United midfielder Davy Arnaud moments after Saturday’s match in Washington, D.C.
Juliao was the only player involved the postgame skirmish who received a fine from Major League Soccer. D.C. United won the match 1-0.
Sporting KC declined comment on the fine. Arnaud is a former Sporting player.
Any contact to the face or head of a player results in an automatic fine, per MLS rules.
The league also fined two players Thursday for flopping. Montreal defender Hassoun Camara and Vancouver midfielder Sebastian Fernandez received those fines.
