Sporting KC awarded third pick in next week's dispersal draft
Sporting Kansas City will pick third in next week's dispersal draft, which will distribute former Chivas USA players to the remaining 20 MLS clubs.
Chivas USA ceased operations late last month when the league simultaneously announced plans for a new Los Angeles club.
The order for the dispersal draft, which will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, was selected using a random draw of envelopes Friday. FC Dallas will pick first, followed by the expansion team New York City FC.
The draft will be conducted via teleconference Wednesday. Any player picked in the draft will have his full 2015 contract plus any contract options automatically picked up. Teams are not required to select any players.
Former Chivas USA players that aren't chosen in the dispersal draft will take part in the MLS Re-Entry Draft.
