Sporting Park unveils new menu items for 2014 season

If you’re headed to the Sporting Kansas City home opener Wednesday night, you might want to arrive with an empty stomach.

Sporting Park has announced new menu items for the 2014 season, available to hungry ticket holders in the concessions area and Champion Club.

The stadium partnered with KC American Sportservice, the team’s food and drink provider, to develop the new items.

The list includes:

• European meat pies made with ground beef, tomatoes, carrots and onions in a pastry crust

• Carne asada, carnitas and chipotle chicken tacos

• A gourmet grilled cheese with Wisconsin sharp cheddar, Muenster cheese, applewood smoked bacon and grilled tomatoes

• BBQ baked potato topped with either barbecue beef, pork or chicken and the Champion’s Club signature BBQ sauce

• Habanero hominy

• BBQ nachos

• Homemade beef jerky

Fans can also load up (or get loaded) on “Blue Hell Lemonade,” Sporting Park’s signature cocktail of blue Curacao, vodka and lemonade, available frozen or on the rocks.
