Sporting KC’s secondary jersey for 2020 season pays homage to Children’s Mercy Park
Sporting Kansas City’s new indigo secondary jersey for the 2020 Major League Soccer season was unveiled Wednesday night in New York. Jerseys for the league’s other 25 teams were also revealed at the event, which begins the celebration of MLS’s 25th season.
Sporting’s jersey, which builds upon 2019’s relatively straightforward secondary jersey, pays homage to several characteristics, including the metal fins that protrude from the exterior of Children’s Mercy Park.
In line with MLS’s sponsorship deal with Adidas through 2024, SKC’s latest jersey is designed by Adidas. The front is adorned with the Sporting Kansas City logo, two stars for its two MLS Cup championships and the Ivy Investments sponsorship logo.
The Adidas three stripes, along with the Sporting KC logo and sponsorship logos, are printed in a metallic silver color to represent the metal fins that adorn the exterior walls of Children’s Mercy Park.
In addition to the indigo blue background, the jersey is covered in Sporting blue Swiss dots. The jersey is rounded out with indigo blue shorts and socks — the socks also include three Sporting blue stripes across the top.
The jersey is available for purchase at MLSstore.com. Sporting kicks off the MLS season on Feb. 29 at Vancouver before returning to the Midwest for its home opener against the Houston Dynamo on March 7.
