Sporting KC defender Erik Palmer-Brown out for the season
Sporting Kansas City defender Erik Palmer-Brown will miss the remainder of the season with a stress fracture in his right foot, the club announced Tuesday.
Palmer-Brown suffered the injury Tuesday during practice. He will undergo surgery Friday.
That will halt an eventful season for the 17-year-old homegrown defender, who made his professional debut in May, became the youngest defender in MLS history to start a match and was selected to the MLS Homegrown Game in August.
Palmer-Brown, who attends O'Hara High School, made three appearances in league matches, including a pair of starts.
He is regarded as one of the top young players in the county. He was selected to the U.S. under-20 men's national team in September after previously representing the under-18, under-17 and under-15 teams in international competition.
