Sporting Kansas City captain Matt Besler wore a soft cast during Saturday’s match in New York to protect a broken bone in his left hand.

Besler believes he suffered the injury in the second half of Wednesday’s match in New England, which the club lost 3-1. It prevented him from taking his patented throw-ins Saturday, but it wasn’t expected to limit him during the run of play.

Besler will see a doctor for further examination when the club returns to Kansas City, a team spokesman said.
