Sporting KC set to conclude training camp with two exhibition matches Saturday
Sporting Kansas City’s monthlong training camp will come to a close Saturday in Tucson, Ariz.
The final day will be a busy one.
Sporting KC will play a split doubleheader Saturday, with an 11:30 a.m. scrimmage against Minnesota United and a 6 p.m. tilt with Seattle to conclude the Desert Diamond Cup.
Sporting KC coach Peter Vermes said he hopes to get players a full 90 minutes between the two matches.
“I would say it’s been a pretty successful camp, all in all,” Vermes said in a phone interview earlier this week. “There’s a lot of competition within the group, a lot of guys competing for jobs. That’s what you want to see.”
Sporting KC opens the regular season March 8 at home against the New York Red Bulls.
