FC Kansas City will start its season on April 12 with a new home and a National Women’s Soccer League title to defend.

The Blues will face Sky Blue FC at 3 p.m. at Sporting Park and then play the remainder of their nine home matches at Swope Soccer Village. They have 20 games in 21 weeks concluding Sept. 6 against Sky Blue FC in New Jersey.

They will face each opponent at least twice and play the Washington Spirit, Houston Dash, Boston Breakers and Western New York Flash three times.

In an effort to minimize weekday matches, the league has reduced the total number of games and extended the regular season from April to September. Teams will average 7 1/2 days of rest between games and take a 12-day break from June 7 to June 18 during the group stages of the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
