FC Kansas City still looking for first victory
Although the National Women’s Soccer League is only in its second season of play, FC Kansas City and Portland Thorns FC have quickly established themselves as rivals.
The two teams will meet again, as the Blues travel to Portland for Saturday’s 9 p.m. game.
The match will be streamed live at FCKansasCity.com/Live-Feed.
“Every time we play Portland it is a good show and a good event,” FC Kansas City coach Vlatko Andonovski said. “I’m expecting a good game.”
The two teams met five times last season with Kansas City winning the regular season series 2-1-1. But it was Portland which won when it mattered most with a 3-2 overtime victory in the NWSL playoffs. It was the highest scoring series in the league last season with Kansas City taking the 11-10 advantage.
FC Kansas City is still looking for its first win after playing Sky Blue FC to a 1-1 draw in the season opener and losing 3-1 to the Washington Spirit last Saturday. Amy Rodriguez has scored the only two goals for the Blues so far.
“First and foremost, we have to counter storm early on because we know they are going to come out flying in front of a full, loud stadium,” Andonovski said.
