FC Kansas City announces opening day roster

In anticipation of Saturday’s season opener, FC Kansas City released its finalized roster on Monday. The team also announced the signing of goalkeeper Sara Keane and midfielder Mandy Laddish.

At goalkeeper, Keane will be joined by Cecilia Santiago and National Women’s Soccer League Goalkeeper of the Year Nicole Barnhart.

Defender of the Year Becky Sauerbrunn leads a group of six defenders, which also features Kassey Kallman, Amy LePeilbet, Nikki Phillips, Leigh Ann Robinson and Nia Williams.

There are 10 midfielders: Laddish, MVP Lauren Holiday, rookie of the year Erika Tymrak, Jen Buczkowski, Katrina Gorry, Sarah Hagen, Maegan Kelly, Merritt Mathias, Jenna Richmond and Frances Silva.

Forwards are Liz Bogus, Melissa Henderson, Morgan Marlborough and Amy Rodriguez.

FC Kansas City will play host to Sky Blue FC in its season opener at 7 p.m. on Saturday at Durwood Stadium on the UMKC campus.
