FC Kansas City trades away Henninger, Farrelly for additional picks in NWSL College Draft
In preparation for Friday’s 2014 National Women’s Soccer League College Draft, FC Kansas City traded away goalkeeper Bianca Henninger and midfielder Sinead Farrelly on Monday in exchange for two additional picks. FC Kansas City will now have six selections in the draft, starting with the fifth overall pick.
Henninger was traded to the expansion Houston Dash for the 19th selection. She appeared in two games for FC Kansas City while Nicole Barnhart was playing for the U.S. National Team. As a backup, FC Kansas City will have Cecilia Santiago, who was allocated to the club by the Mexican Federation earlier this month.
Farrelly, who appeared in 16 games and started 10, will go to the Portland Thorns SC for the 16th overall pick. She scored one goal for FC Kansas City this season in the 2-0 victory against the Seattle Reign on April 26 and is currently on loan to Apollon Limassol LFC through Jan 31.
The draft will start at 9 a.m. on Friday at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.
