Jason Sudeikis, ‘Ted Lasso’ cast member wow KC Current crowd on Mother’s Day

In what kind of alternate universe does TV’s most popular soccer coach come face-to-face with the real-life coach of a popular women’s soccer team?

That would be at Kansas City’s CPKC Stadium, home of the KC Current, where Jason Sudeikis — aka Ted Lasso — wowed the Mother’s Day crowd.

It was a good game to watch. The team, currently No. 1 in the NWSL, beat Bay FC 4-1.

Before the game Sudeikis was on the pitch where he shook hands with the team’s head coach, Vlatko Andonovski.

Sudeikis was there with his fellow “Ted Lasso” cast member Brendan Hunt, a co-creator of the Apple TV+ comedy juggernaut who also plays Coach Beard on the show.

“Iconic coaches from #KCBABY. Ted Lasso’s own Jason Sudeikis and Brendan Hunt showing support today,” the team wrote on Instagram, where it posted a photo of the friendly meetup.

The two celebs also led the team’s “KC Baby!” chant before the game.

In March, Sudeikis shared the news that Season 4 of Emmy-winning “Ted Lasso” is a go. He spilled the beans to Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce on their “New Heights” podcast.

“That’s what we’re writing. We’re writing season four right now,” Sudeikis told them.

Then he added that “Ted is coaching a women’s team.”

Wait. What?

Travis, who knows Sudeikis through the annual Big Slick charity event in Kansas City, asked if Lasso would return to the United States or still coach in Richmond, England.

Sudeikis was coy. “That’s too many questions,” he said.

A premiere date hasn’t been announced yet, either.

After the game Sunday, reporters asked Andonovski if he gave Sudeikis any coaching tips.

“No, he’s the one that I’m getting coaching tips from. He’s my inspiration,” he said with a laugh. “It’s so good just to see the people that are coming and supporting this club, this organization.

“It’s amazing and people like him, like Jason, coming to this just gives a little more ... gives a little more motivation for us, staff, team, the players to do well for all our supporters.”

Sudeikis is expected back in front of Kansas City crowds at the end of the month to co-host the Big Slick Celebrity Weekend May 30 and 31.
