KC Current learns 2025 NWSL schedule. Here’s how many times team will play on national TV
The National Women’s Soccer League and the Kansas City Current unveiled the league’s 2025 schedule on Wednesday.
The Current kicks off its ‘25 campaign with a March 15 (Saturday) matchup against the Portland Thorns at CPKC Stadium. The game will be televised nationally on ABC.
KC will play 23 matches on national TV in 2025, most in the league. That means only three matches will be on NWSL+, the league’s streaming service.
The Current won a 5-4 thriller in its last season opener, on March 16, 2024, beating the Thorns in the Kansas City club’s inaugural match at CPKC Stadium.
KC’s 2025 schedule features a balanced two-part season. The Current will play 13 matches from March 15 through June 20, meeting every other team in the league once. An NWSL break during the month of July allows for global confederation tournaments (CONCACAF Gold Cup, Copa America, Euros).
At the moment, the Current is not scheduled to take part in a summer tournament this year ... but that could change.
After the international break, the NWSL’s regular season will resume Aug. 1. The Current will face each team again during the season’s second half, with the home team reversed for each match.
The league’s balanced schedule for 2025 contrasts with last season, when the Current had already finished playing Angel City for the year just six games into the season and didn’t play Washington Spirit until just eight matches remained.
A few of the Current’s home match dates for the coming season will clash with Sporting KC home games: June 14, Aug. 30 and Sept. 20. In each case, the Current kicks off at 6:30 p.m. at CPKC Stadium while Sporting KC kicks off at 7:30 at Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kan.
The NWSL playoffs will begin the weekend of Nov. 7-9 and conclude with the NWSL Championship Game on Nov. 22.
