FC Kansas City’s Shea Groom out 4-6 weeks with foot injury
FC Kansas City rookie forward Shea Groom will miss four to six weeks due to a right foot second metatarsal fracture that she suffered last Thursday after a collision with Boston Breakers goalkeeper Jami Kranich at Soldiers Field Soccer Stadium in Boston.
Groom, a graduate of Liberty High School, had two assists in the match at Boston and was injured after she scored the game-winning goal. There are five metatarsal bones in a human’s foot, according to the www.patient.info website. A metatarsal fracture is when one of these bones is broken.
Groom has seen action in 12 FC Kansas City matches this season and leads the team with four goals. She was selected in the second round (No. 12 pick overall) of the 2015 National Women’s Soccer League College Draft.
