Catch the teal wave at these KC Current NWSL championship events and watch party

In just their second season, the Kansas City Current find themselves one win away from being NWSL champions. Their date with destiny is against the Portland Thorns at 7 p.m. Saturday at Audi Field in Washington, D.C.

Kansas City is turning teal this week to celebrate the team’s first-ever championship appearance. You’ll find events leading up to the big game on Saturday throughout the city.

Union Station has signed memorabilia, banners hanging from the ceiling and the team’s motto, “Current Rising,” in big, bright letters on display. The front of Union Station and the Kansas City skyline will also turn teal on Friday.

Where else can you join in on the Current fun? Check out where to find the Teal Mobile across the city below, and more info on the official watch party.

WHERE IS THE TEAL MOBILE?

The Teal Mobile is the Current’s mobile merchandise booth. The big rig travels from location to location with shirts, hats, jerseys and team gear. You can find the Teal Mobile here:

Wednesday: Hy-Vee on 5330 NW. 64th St. from 4 to 6 p.m.

Friday: Ruby Jean’s Juicery on 3000 Troost Ave. from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Friday: Boulevard Brewing Co. on 2534 Madison Ave. from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Saturday: Messenger Coffee on 1624 Grand Blvd. from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Additionally, exclusive pet accessories will be on sale at Bar K on Thursday.

WHERE IS THE WATCH PARTY?

The Blue Crew, the Current’s supporter section, usually fills the KC Live! Block in the Power & Light District for watch parties, but it’ll be a different location Saturday night due to the outdoor space having a Halloween party already booked.

Some of the Blue Crew will be heading to D.C. for the game, but everyone else is invited to the Haverty Family Yards at Union Station to watch. The gates open at 5:30 p.m. and it’s free for all. The Current recommends that people RSVP to the watch party, which you can do here.

Food, drinks and more will be available through trucks from local vendors. Don’t be alarmed if you forget to wear teal to the watch party. The Teal Mobile will also be on site for the game.
