FC Kansas City’s home game against North Carolina Courage rescheduled
The weekend’s postponed match between FC Kansas City and North Carolina has been rescheduled for Aug. 10 at 7 p.m. at Swope Soccer Village, the teams announced Wednesday morning.
When lightning moved into the Kansas City area Saturday night, officials delayed the game in the 39th minute. They seemed hopeful for a brief period that the storm would peter out and the teams would be able to return to the field at Swope Soccer Village.
But three hours after suspending play, the teams and the National Women’s Soccer League agreed to postpone the game to a date to be determined.
The game will not resume in the 39th minute. Per league rules, if a game is cancelled prior to the completion of the first half of play, regardless of the score, the score and all statistics will not be recorded, and the game will be treated as if it were cancelled before it started.
The NWSL is currently observing an international break. FCKC will return to action in Boston against the Breakers on Aug. 4.
